European Symposium on Carbon-based electronics held at AMO
On July 13th and 14th, 2010 the European symposium on carbon-based electronics was held at AMO GmbH, Aachen. More than 50 renowned experts in the field of carbon-electronics came together in Aachen to present their latest scientific results and to discuss future directions for the research in Europe.
The carbon-allotropes graphene and carbon-nanotubes have become a major field of research not only for physicists and material scientists but also for electrical engineers because of their huge potential for future ICT devices in the post CMOS era. This symposium was organized to bring leading European scientist together for establishing an efficient European network necessary for fore-front-research in this highly competitive field. Highlights of the symposium were the presentations of the already existing FP7-funded projects ConceptGraphene given by Prof. Tomas Lofwander (Chalmers University, Sweden), ViaCarbon given by Prof. John Robertson (Cambridge University, UK), Catherine given by Prof. Alessio Tamburrano (University of Rome, Italy) and GRAND given by Dr. Daniel Neumaier (AMO GmbH, Germany). Also the funding possibilities within the 7th framework programme of the European Union were presented by Dr. Ralph Stuebner (European Commission Brussels, Belgium).
The organization of the European Symposium on Carbon-based electronics was financially supported by the European Union via the STREP project GRAND and the network of excellence NANOSIL.
Please find detailed information about the Symposium, including the conference presentation slides, on the project website.
